How do I measure for pillow loft?

Stand straight and measure from the side of your neck, where it meets the shoulder, to the outer edge of your shoulder. For side sleepers, the pillow should fill roughly that gap when squashed, minus a little for the mattress sinking.

Does my mattress change the pillow height I need?

Yes. A soft mattress lets your shoulder sink in, so you need a lower pillow. A firm mattress keeps you higher, so you need a bit more height.

What if I sleep in more than one position?

Pick a medium loft, or an adjustable pillow you can tune, or a pillow with a high and a low side.
